Why should companies invest in hiring millennial workers?

The old adage goes 'there no time like the present' and that rings true today for organizations that are putting off hiring new employees in the face of an uncertain economic climate, but these depressed economic conditions are a short-term blip. There are literally tens of thousand of young workers who would love the chance to put their ambition, innovative ideas, and guile to work and test the waters of the corporate world.


With the looming demographic problem of boomer retirement, now is the time for organizations of all stripes to begin hiring and training the next generation of workers en masse. It astounds me that I have highly intelligent friends stuck in an employment rut, under-employed and looking for a way to contribute to society in meaningful way. Now is the time to enact measures to address the coming skills gap through hiring, training, and create the next generation of business leaders, innovators, and government officials. If we wait till it's too late I fear we won't like the outcome. The time is now to bring the talents of the millennial generation to bear on our current problems, simply put they're our greatest resource.
