New report highlights the impact of the lack of a national childcare program

The YWCA Canada is releasing a report tomorrow highlight ongoing impact from the lack of a national child care program. The report traces the growing economic concerns over inaction on the part of government in the face of escalating labour force participation from women. This issue is bound to gain prominence as millennials are beginning to start families and discovering the lack of affordable child care options. On a local level, students at Ryerson University are planning a rally in support of a national child care system, connect with the group and find out more here. These development are happening at a time when Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak is attacking the Liberal government over the continuing rollout of full day kindergarten and the Harper government showing zero interest in addressing wider child care. One has to wonder if many politicians have the interests of the millennial generation in mind.
