When I was doing my law degree my mother set foot in the town I was going to school in exactly twice: once to drop me off and once for my graduation, making a day out of it both times. Me being out of sight and out of mind worked well for both of us. Helicopter parents have been with us for awhile, but now with the millennials entering business, law, and medical schools, the trend is becoming obvious to a whole new set of educators.
My best advice to any prospective professional school student is to leave the parents at home. The results of having a parent around can be unexpected and it can impact your opportunities if they start interacting with administrators and professors.
